NAVIGATE AND OVERCOME FEAR
God’s Word is Final Be the One Family! Man, we are so excited to step into this next season of BTO! Stepping into new seasons is always a process and sometimes that can be scary, however God did not give us a spirit of fear and ultimately, we will win more when fear is not present.
1 Peter 1:16-17 ESV "since it is written, “You shall be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one's deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile"
We fear no man, we fear no outcome, and we fear no agenda but the Lamb’s. Over the next few weeks I want to write you a few quick thoughts on how we navigate and overcome fear.
With that said, it's important to say not all fear is bad. There are healthy fears. These fears are to act as a warning signal to draw our attention to avoid harm. Our safety and survival relies on this “good” fear.
Another healthy fear is the fear of God. I know that sounds crazy to fear Him! Fear needs definition and context. In our culture, fear is usually connected with being afraid. The Hebrew word for fear, means “to respect” or “to revere” God. A healthy fear of God means we surrender to His will and His word. We overcome the hardships we face when His words take priority. The fear of the Lord brings comfort because his word is final.
Often times, the media, social media, friends and families will all tempt you into fear. Now is not a time to fight with others, it is a time to trust God’s word. When the fear of the Lord is present we are freed from the power of darkness and its destructive hold on our lives.
One way to navigate a healthy fear of the Lord is to pause and spend time with Him. Choose Him over busy-ness. Choose Him over scrolling. Choose Him over a nap. Choose Him over a meal. The Bible says the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
