Welcome back Be the One family!

Pastor Steven here, I am so excited to go into the next part of our series on leadership, "Discover, Develop, Deploy."

To build a team, leaders practice the discipline to Discover, Develop and Deploy those around them. We call this building “The Who.” We see it as recognizing those around us and helping them to take their next step. This means we are also always Seeing, Saying, and Showing people how to move forward in life and ministry.

DISCOVER Who do you see, who can you ask? Who do you need on your team? The hope is as we talk, someone is coming to your mind. Jesus knew people needed purpose and it is the role of the church to impart kingdom thinking! We want to discover those that God is sending. Who is the next one that God is asking you to engage with? Who is called and doesn’t know it yet?

When we allow people to walk side by side with us, transformation can happen. Is there someone near you who needs the opportunity to walk side by side with you?

Most ministries are not missing leaders; they just overlook who is available. DEVELOP Leaders must be able to develop others on what the culture sounds like. Culture is what something looks and feels like and it must be actively developed. Everywhere you go there is a culture. Be the One's culture is life giving because of people who continue to develop a loving relationship with the Lord and each other. If we are going to really develop a team to meet the demands of our church or organization there are three components to development.

DEPLOY Let them go! This is exciting! They have come through the process and are owning their area. They have learned that correction is not rejection but a challenge. The key in this phase is loving them while they are in the middle of leading. Growing is awesome! Now that they are equipped with both the skills and culture, we have to release them. This is where we build their confidence. The goal isn’t to just have a great team, it is to produce great leaders. When we do our job, they should leave and own their own area. Be the One family I want to challenge you with this:

In what phase of leadership do you find yourself?

What responsibility of yours is requiring a response? Stay tuned for next week for when we talk about, "How to Keep A Team"

Love ya, Pastor Steven Sexton
